Frequently Asked Questions?
What if I don't know exactly what I want?
That is why we have a consultation with you. We discuss options, finishing, everything that needs to be chosen. Sometimes we will even give you multiple quotes to help you make a decision:
_If we do this, it will cost this.
_If we do that, it will cost that.
Do you give quotes or estimates; what's the difference?
For most jobs, we give a quote rather than an estimate. In the event that a job has too many unknowns to give a quote for the entire job, we will give quotes for the parts of the job that are well defined and then an estimate for the undefined part.
A Quote is a fixed price for a fixed amount of work using specific materials. You know exactly what it will cost to get the job done.
An Estimate is an expected range based on a best guess of what will need to be done.
If additional work or materials are needed that weren't originally expected and you have a Quote that defines the work (no changes were made to the original work order), then the contractor pays the difference.
In an Estimate, the price can be significantly different that the original estimate and the owner pays the difference. When getting an Estimate, at least make sure you get a price range. We will give you a price range.
Do you guarantee your work?
Workmanship and Installations are Guaranteed. If something isn't right, we will fix it.
Materials come with their own Guarantee and we do service calls for materials we install.
We aim to create raving fans!
Do you charge by the job or materials plus labor?
For almost all work, we charge by the job in the for of a Quote.
I know what I want and you have given me a Quote. Now what?
The next step is to schedule your work. In order to do this, you must pay a deposit which will be a minimum of 10% of the work to be done, but will depend on the scope of the work, the amount of materials that must be purchased in advance of starting, and the expected length of time it will take to complete the work.
Do you have a contract?
All work is done with a Quote or other type of contract clearly stating the nature of the work to be completed, the materials to be used, and any other pertinent details.
Do you take payments or installments?
Depending on the length of the job, we take a deposit, weekly installments, and the final 20% upon completion. The only exception to this is if the materials alone come to more than 80% of the entire quote.
This means that the job payment will be divided into at least 2 payments, but on jobs that last longer, there would be additional interim payments do. The job must be paid in full upon completion.
